How to Find Us
Just off the A4086 Caernarfon - Capel Curig road. Click here for map of the area.
The approach road to the railway is clearly signposted off the main road at the south end of Llanberis, almost opposite the Snowdon Railway station. Motorists are advised to drive right down to Padarn, as there is much more room to park here than in the village, which may be congested. The nearest mainline railway station is at Bangor , and buses run from here direct to Llanberis, however, a more frequent service operates via Caernarfon. In high summer most buses from Caernarfon call at Padarn, but otherwise alight at the Snowdon Railway station and pick up our train from our new Llanberis terminus.
The more adventurous visitor arriving via Bangor may care to try the country bus service operated quite frequently (service no. 85/86) from Bangor bus station to Dinorwig. Alight at the terminus and decend the famous 'Zig Zag' path to Padarn. The bus driver will point out the start of the route, and Padarn station is only a few yards from the foot of the Zig Zag. Much used as a short cut by local residents, the Zig Zag affords interesting glimpses of the slate quarries, and breathtaking views of the mountains across the valley, with the twin lakes of Peris and Padarn below.
